James Boyd Criscoe, age 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at Brookdale Assisted Living Home in Texarkana, TX where he resided for 11 years.

Mr. Criscoe was born on Dec. 14, 1928 in Faught, TX to Herbert & Mae Criscoe.

He entered the U. S. Army at the age of 17 during the end of WW II. Upon returning home, he pursued his teaching degree at East Texas State University.

Mr. Criscoe was born on Dec. 14, 1928 in Faught, TX to Herbert & Mae Criscoe.

He entered the U. S. Army at the age of 17 during the end of WW II. Upon returning home, he pursued his teaching degree at East Texas State University.

Mr. Criscoe served as an educator in the Mt. Pleasant School District for over 40 years. Most of his time was dedicated to making science fun and interesting for students with his bigger-than-life demonstrations.

He remained in the National Guard, spending summers teaching at commander and staff schools for the military. He retired from the military as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Mr. Criscoe will be remembered for his servant’s heart, joyful spirit and love for God and country.

He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Hollingsworth of Texarkana, TX, son, Jim Criscoe and daughter-in-law, Judy Criscoe of Austin, TX, son, Terry Criscoe of Eagle Pass, sister, Betty Lee Lanasa and brother-in-law, Phil of Clear Lake, TX, 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

He is reunited with the love of his life who he always called “My beautiful wife Sylvia”.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home in Paris, TX with military honors and burial following in Springhill Cemetery.
